No Time to Lose: Kaitlyn Dodds

“Nothing is just handed to you and it’s always important to do everything you can to succeed.” This is the mentality of Kaitlyn Dodds, and what she believes has helped her accomplish her goals. She also thinks this is helpful advice for others to succeed.

People change over time, and when Dodds was asked if her younger self would be proud of who she is today she said this, “I think my younger self would be proud because I was always a high achiever trying to get straight A’s and I still do that now.”

She thinks it is important to surround yourself with people that encourage you to do great things: “An ideal friend for me is someone who is kind and motivates me, friendships shouldn’t feel stressful, they should create a carefree environment.” She thinks friends should want what’s best for you and also want to see you succeed.

An accomplishment that Dodds made is currently being fourth in her class, and being extremely active in volleyball. Because of this she thinks people would describe her as determined.

A piece of advice Dodds would give to underclassmen is: “Don’t take anything for granted, I have done that, I took my freshman year for granted, I wanted to have more fun, but now I have too much school work, make sure to have fun while you can.”

About the Contributor
Avery Niekamp
Avery Niekamp, Staff Writer
Avery Niekamp is a sophomore at Celina High School. She was born in Florida and adopted as an infant, gaining a new home in Celina, Ohio.  Niekamp has one younger sibling, a sister, who is currently in 7th grade. She loves spending time with her sister and learns new things from her everyday.  She enjoys spending time with and having conversations with all kinds of people. Seeing her friends immediately lightens her mood, she gains energy from seeing others smile. She is extremely sarcastic and can turn anything into a joke.  Niekamp enjoys school on most days, as much as one can anyway, but sometimes gets stressed like most people. She thinks it's important to not let your grades and test scores define who you are, obviously that's easier said than done.  Her favorite subject varies from year to year. She focuses more on the teacher and their teaching style, she thinks a good teacher can make anything interesting.  Niekamp is involved in volleyball and although she loves playing the sport that's not her whole reasoning behind it. She loves being competitive, sometimes even with her own teammates, but loves them like family. Being a part of something like a team is something Niekamp thinks everyone should experience. A few things Niekamp particularly enjoys are music and reading. She likes to say she has an obsession with both of those things. They both are a place for people to have a creative outlet and express themselves. She likes them because they allow her mind to take a brief break from reality.
